AERO EXHIBITION. , 4 FORTY NATIONS REPRESENTED. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, July 17. Tbe international' character of the aero exhibition was very noticeable on its opening day yesterday, for representatives of nearly forty nations inspected the exhibition, which is intensely interesting, both to experts and laymen. The Prince of Wales spent several hours there, climbing into cockpits, 'examining controls and discussing designs of both the British and foreign machines on view. He discussed developments in flying with many pioneers, who, in the early days, constructed and precariously flew their own craft. He showed special interest Ln American, German, French and Italian machines, and the remarkable display of British light aeroplanes, which promise to be the future motorcycles of tho air. Among these were single-seaters costing under £4OO, with a cruising speed of 80 miles an hour, the running costs of which are under a penny a mile. Their wings can be folded, and the machine housed in an ordinary garage. MINISTRY’S WARNING. A SHORTAGE OF WATER IN ENGLAND. RUGBY, July 17. The Ministry of Health has sent a request to local authorities to economise water supplies, accompanied by a warning that “statistics now available for a long successions of years indicate that the rainfall during tho next few years may continue to fall short of the average.”

Over practically the whole of England there has been this year an abnormally low rainfall, that has been Tinequalled since 1921. The Ministry’s warning coincides with a spell of very warm weather, the shade temperature at Kew yesterday, reaching 89 degrees Fahrenheit, which is 18 degrees above the average day maximum for mid-July, and lias only once been exceeded since 1870. EXCHANGING TALKTES. DEPUTATION OF PRODUCERS. RUGBY, July 17. The Parliamentary Secretary to the board of Trade, Mr W. R. Smith, vcp?ived a deputation from the Cinematograph Exhibitors Association to-day. which made certain proposals for securing the inter-changeability of talking pictures in different reproducing apparatus. He promised that their iepresentntions should 1« given careful consideration and a further meeting mav he held later.
