The Westland Sub-Union representatives journey to Reefton to-morrow to play Inangahua Sub-Union representatives in a game for the Dittman Shield. The Westland team is'a good’ strong one, comprising as it does a good proportion of West Coast representatives. The forwards are a good heavy lot and the backs also should be able to make a good showing.- The prospects of a win are therefore bright. The team leaves in the morning by car from Newman’s Garage at 7.30. MATCHES FOR SATURDAY. Senior game for Dittman Shield'.— Westland v. Inangahua, at Reefton. JUNIORS. : Rimu v. . JUNIOR GAMES. The junior knock-out competition for' the Breeze .-shield will begin to-mor-row. On Cass 1 Square Kiwi and Excelsiors will meet, and a good game should result. Cars to leave Rimu at 2 yclock sharp. SEDDON SHIELD MATCH. Coast to play nelson. At a special meeting of the '‘'West Coast Rugby Union Executive yesterday afternoon, it was definitely decided to make the trip to Nelson for the Seddon Shield match to be played on 27th July. The touring team will be selected after next Saturday’s matches. A Creymouth senior representative B team and”a junior team will also- be selected next Saturday to play the Hokitika senior and junior teams on 1 27th July. The senior fifteen will play at Hokitika, and the Hokitika juniors will meet the local side at Greymouth.
POVERTY BAY BEAT WAIKATO. (By Telegraph—Press Association). GISBORNE, July 18. Before a crowd of nearly 3000, on a wet, muddy ground, Poverty Bay defeated the touring Waikato fifteen by 16 points to 3. For Poverty Bay, McKay (2), Caulton and Higgs scored Canton converting two tries. For Waikato, Anderson scored a try.
