N.S.W. COAL TROUBLE
CONFERENCE FAILS
(Australian Press Association.)
SYDNEY, July 18
Less than half an hour’s discussion to-day sounded the death knell of the conference between the mining industry unions and the coal proprietors, which had been arranged by the Coal Commission, as cabled on July 10th and 12th.' The unions stated that they had nothing to offer in the way of a compromise, and the owners also had no solution which would satisfy all the parties. A joint statement to this effect was issued hy the representatives of the parties at the close of the conference.
The Coal Commissin thereupon resumed its investigation.
