DESTRUCTION OF BRITISH CONSULATE. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, July 16. News has reached London that the explosion of a powder magazine on Friday in the ancient, walled city of Yunnan-fu, capital of the Province of Yunnan, in the extreme south-west of China, destroyed a large area of the / city, including the British Consulate, which with most of its contents was entirely demolished. No information is available as to the number of casualties caused by the explosion, but it is understood that the Consul-General (Mr C. C. A. Kirke) is not seriously hurt.
