Renewed movement to give Philippines Independence originated with a stirring appeal for freedom by Alan-, uel lloxas, the Speaker of Philippine House of Representatives, before the S.enato's. Finance , Cbinmitte.e, after which Senator. King, who long ..ago advocated such announced he would .move at next session for the adoption of his Bill to free the Islands, which would be provided thereby as ..soon, as the Philippines established a Constitutional Government. Senator King said he would also press for action on the resolution, asking the President to take up with all- Pacific Powers negotiations of n treaty guaranteeing tho neutrality of the Islands. Senator King claims that the glowing competition of sugar from tue Philippines with domestic sugar, will soon force United States to grant independence, which independence has been mentioned frequently during :he tariff hearings.
