SINGAPORE BASE
CANCELLATION PLEDGED. fUnited Press Association.—By Electri/> Telegraph.—Copyright.) LONDON, July 15. “A memorandum that lias been prepared for the Cabinet concerning the Singapore Base shows that the cancellation of the contracts will involve between three and four millions in compensation, and ot|ier losses,” says the Daily Chronicle’s political correspondent. “Another complication arises from the fact that out of £858.872 expended so far, plus £971.492 for the Hoaxing dock, only £200,600 has been paid by Britain, the remainder being provided by New Zealand, Australia and Malaya. It is more than likely that tile decision will be deferred, pending the naval conversations.”
