GAS IN THE HOME
Mr Henry Ford has saiU: “Thegreat problem in the home to-day is that there is too much drudgery there. . . . There has been no decrease in the hours of labour for wives.” Such a statement as the foregoing arrests attention, when we realise the sense of it. What may he done to remedy the trouble ? The answer is use gas in the homo where anything requires to be done by heat, and the labour involved will be more than cut in half. Gas appliances are now’ ,so varied and modern that there are means for performing all j classes, of domestic work with the nitljl of gas: Gas needs no preparation or attention on the part of the consumer. It is available at all times on tap. The application of a match sets combustion in iorce, and the heat carries on, There is no hewing of wood ordrawing of coal or other fuel. Neither is there any mess to clean up in the morning. No ashes to remove, no brushing to do, and less dusting of used rooms. : Cooking by gas with modern cookers is cooking made easy. The heat can be regulated and goods can be done to a turn. Meanwhile other household duties, may be attended to, gas in the interval • doing its part. Thus are household labours cut in- two. " There is a large amount of; drudgery avoided,, and ,for qL K minimum of ’effort and. and cost,-meals T are cooked to the right degree, and give satisfaction"to all.' ' By rio other means can the same economical results be achieved and this fact is deciding many now to use gas freely in domestic work of Ml kinds.
