COAL SHORTAGE
SERIOUS POSITION AT DUNEDIN. [By Telegraph, Per Press Association.] DUNEDIN, July 16. Unless further supplies of coal are obtained from the West Coast, the serious shortage is likely lo cause great inconvenience in the supply of gas from the Corporation Gasworks, where there is less than a , vieek’? supply., Since the beginning of the month only 153 tons have come to the Works, where 350 tops are carbonised weekly. • v . The Mayor this morning telegraphed the Hon. W. B. Taverner pointing out' the seriousness of the position and asking to have supplies expedited.
