THE KING’S HEALTH

KING’S OPERATION. EXPECTED TO CLEAR UP TROUBLE. LONDON, July 15. The “Morning Post’s”* medical correspondent says:—“The King’s abscess is just under tho wall of the chest, and it- is evidently the result of the removal of the portion of a rib, which left a few fragments of jagged ends of bone. These ends sometimes die and tend to keep on forming abscesses. “The operation will probably take the form of the re-opening of the sinus, and the scraping out of the passage, and the removing of hit* of bone. After the long septic condition tho healing of the sinus may be a little tiresome especially if it should be necessary to leave a small tube. Thus the King will be confined to bed for a day or two, but the operation should clear up the trouble entirely.
TWO RIBS OUT. LONDON, July 15. Drs Rigby and Wilfred Trotter performed tho operation on the King who bore it very satisfactorily. It is pointed out that it was more serious than was foreshadowed, in- ! volving the cutting of two ribs, but j Court circles emphasise that His MajI esty is fitter than when at first operacd upon. There is confidence that a complete recovery will now be hastened. SUCCESSFUL OPERATION. (Received this day at 9.25 a.m.) ,i* ! ..
