OKURU DEPUTATION

ARRIVE IN WELLINGTON. PREPARING! TO MEET MINISTERS (By Telegraph.—Special to Guardian). WELLINGTON, July 15. Messrs W. D. Nolan, J. Cron, and C. Eggling, settlers from Haast and Olcuru arrived here yesterday on deputation business, and were met by Mr I). J. Evan.?. Later they conferred with Mr J. O’Brien, M.P., regarding details for the deputation or. Wednesday to the Prime Minister, Minister of Lands and Public Works, regarding roading and settlement proposals for Okuru-Jacks'on Bay district.

Mr W. Searle, member of Westland County Council is expected on Wednesday. .

Mr W. J. Wallace, sawmiller of Greymouth, who lias large timber interests in the Far South locality, is to join the deputation. The Southern settlers have prepared important matter to place before the Government affecting the request. Members of the deputation are also meeting the Leader of the Opposition (Hon J. G. Coates) and Leader of the Labour Party (Mr H. Holland) to enlist their'support for the project when the matter ultimately conies before Parliament.

The project has important features relating to the possibilities of the extension of settlement in the Tar South and it is hoped to secure approval of the roading scheme from all sides of the House.
