For the England-South Africa cricket test, the teams were as follows: South Africa': Deane, Catterall, Siedle, Morkel, Mitchell, Vincent, Quinn, Vandernierwe, Bell, Owen Smith' and Dunning. England: White,' "Sutcliffe, Hammond, Hendren, Duckworth, Freeman, Woolley, 'Bowlev, Tate, Larwood and Leyland. South Africa won the toss and went in to bat. The match was commenced at .Leeds in perfect weather. South Africa at the luncheon adjournment had lost two wickets for 94 runs. Injuries to the South Africans Cameron, Christie and Taylor had necessitated a broadcast appeal for Dunning, who has not before played in test cricket since he played' against (Stanyforth’s team in South Africa. He hurried from Swizcrland to participate in the third test.
