THE EARTHQUAKE
WESTPORT ALARMED. WORST SHOCK SINCE BIG ONE. [By Telegraph, Per Press Association,;;! AVESTPORT; July -Bi'i The worst earthquake since the big one on June 17th was felt at Westport at -12.15 to-day. There was no warning rumble, but with dramatic suddenness buildings received a severe buffeting. People rushed into the streets and women could 'be heal’d sci-eaniing. The shake, although very violent, lasted only about three seconds. Some crockery and goods in shops came down but no serious damage is reported. Small tremors continued for some time after the big shake.
SHOCKS AT REEFTON. REEFTON, July 8. Earthquake shocks have been frequent since Saturday night. At 12.22 p.m. to-day a pronounced shock was felt accompanied by a loud rumbling. It lasted twelve seconds.
