ISLAND BLOWN UP

Advices received in Sydney regarding the volcanic eruption oh Anibrym Island in New Hebrides,' state that the island of Anibrym was blown up on Friday night. ■ _ . The mission stations of Craig’s Cove and Boiap have been completely destroyed. The Missioncr, Mr Taylor, a New Zealander, and his wife and baby, vitp safe at the Acre station. PARTICULARS OF ISLAND. LAST ERUPTION 17 YEARS AGO. N.Z. MISSION AFFECTED. . SYDNEY, July 3. There are no more details of the volcanic disturbance at 'Ambrym Islandj the New Hebrides Mission Station. Ambryn Island is one of the laiger islands of the Hebrides gro ’p. It is about sixty miles in circumference. There is a Presbyterian MV : ;n .at the Craig Cove, nearby. It is a New Zealand station, working wit 1 ' the Presbyterian Church of VictoriaThere would be about ten Whites at Ambryn station at the time of the eruption. The volcano at Ambryn has been . unnaturally quiet for a long time past. The last eruption occurred in the year 1912, when many natives perished. <
