At Wimbledon in the quarter-finals of the men’s singles, Cochet beat Timmer 6-4, 7-5, 6-2. Austin beat von Kehrling 6-2, 8-6, 6-3. Tilden beat Landry 6-4, 2-6, 6-3, 7-5. Borotra beat Lott 6-3, 6-3, 6-4. LONDON, July 1. At Wimbledon Austin’s success is regarded as fortuitous. To-day’s victory proved Austin is distinctly better than previously credited. He played a good all round game. Cocliet had a had spell in the second set but forced the pace and won. Tilden was much below form. LONDON, July 1. At Wimbledon, in the men’s doubles, tliird round, Allison and Vanryn beat Kaeluli and Andrews 6—2, 6—4, 6—2. Kloiuschrotli and Von Kehrling boat Landry and De‘buzolct.
