COAL OWNERS’ PROFITS.
BUTTENSHAW’S THREAT. (Australian Press Association) (Received this dav at 10.30. a.m.) SYDNEY, July 2. Drastic action against the coal owners, if it is proved that they haye mislead the Government, is promised by the Acting-Premier, Air Buttenshaw, who declared: “If the Coal Commission finds that the colliery profits'exceed 2s; per ton then the Government has .been misled and the inquiry into the coal position shall proceed.”' COAL CONDITIONS. CABINET AND OWNERS. (British Official Wireless.) (Received this day at 12.25. p.m.) RUGBY, July 1. The Prime Minister, accompanied by' Mr J. H. Thomas, the Minister responsible for employment, and Miss M. liondfield, Minister for Labour, W. Graham, President off the Board of .trade, nijd Mr Ben Turner, Minister for Mines* met Mr Evan Williams and members of the Alining Association, the coal owners’ organisation, at Downing Street to-dav. The meeting lasted over two hours, and the condition of the coal industry was fully discussed. i LONDON, July 1.
