DOUBLE TRAGEDY
COUPLE FOUND POISONED (By Telegraph—Frees Association). _ **■ ' HAMILTON j June 30. A double tragedy was revealed this morning, when the police forced an entry into the fruit shop of Lees and Coy. in 'Victoria St. They found ly- * ing dead on a bed in the rear, mises Edward E. Lees, aged 39'years, and his wife Eileen Myrtle Lees (nee McFlinn), aged 28. The shop had been closed' for * several days. I lie" couple 5. had apparently been dead about three days. In the kitchen, adjacent to the bedroom, was a small bottle, which had. contained poison. The fruit and confectionery business conducted by the deceased had not been prosperous. It was to.have been closed to-day. ' ' The father of Lees : , who has a farm and shop properties in tht Te Awa- :• mutu district, visited Hamilton yes- .* • terday. On finding his son’s shop closed, he assumed that he and his wife had left. Lees had served in the. ; 1 war with the Eleventh North Auck- •- land Mounteds and was invalided home.
