A DAILY MESSAGE

THE OTHER FELLOWS. Have you ever thought bow much we owe to the other follows in this-world? If you do pause to tiiink about it, von will find that most tilings of any value that have come to us have been made possible only by the help of the other fellow. Whatever victories we have achieved, or good things wo have done, have been made possible only through the help and goodwill of the other fellow—many other fellows. The man who is prepared to take on a single-handled fight for right compels the help of all good follows, but we have never won much by singlehanded fighting—not one of us. Many fellows succeed because other fellows have been ahead of them, blazing a thousand trails for a thousand other fellows to. follow. 'flow often the other ifellow lias fought with us, or encouraged us, inspired us, given us the friendly word, the helping hand, the encouraging and determined push, which made all the difference between success and failure. No general ever won a battle without the help of all the other fellows in the army. No statesman ever climbed to power without the help of a thousand other fellows in Ins cause. The navigator on the bridge may know all there is to know about navigation, but he could not pilot his ship without the stoker in the hold and all the other fellows who form the crew. 1 We are in partnership with a thousand other fellows in this life, and we are dependent upon their goodwill and (faithful ’ performance of their service for our own success, happiness, and comfort.

We are in close partnership with the “hullo” girl; she is one of the other fellows who make business possible. She helps us in our communications with a goodwill all too frequently overlooked.

We are in close partnership with the farmer who grows our bread and meat, and the chef, who cooks and sometimes spoils it, and the butcher and the baker who bring it to our doors. The rocK-chopper and the builder, the shearer and the squatter, the fireman and the engineer, the builder and the bricklayer, the' tram , guard and the postman, the doctor, the nurse, and the undertaker, and many other fellows.too■ are all our partners in the scheme of things. All our success and happiness in life, every comfort we enjoy, all our hopes, all our achievements, are made possible by the goodwill of the other 'fellows, who share just the same ups and downs, joys and sorrows, hopes and fears, loves and hates, as we do. So. good luck to all the other fellows, who do so much for us, and may we aways remember that we arc the other fellow to thousands we meet on life’s highway May we give that friendly word, that helping hand, that encouraging push to our fellow human passengers, which is the sure sign of good fellowship throughout the world! —M. PRESTON STANLEY. ' I .
