DETAILS' SURGICAL OPERATION: , i«t (Received this dnv at 9.25 a.m.) LONDON, June 28. The first talking film, detailing a surgical operation, was successfully shown before an audience of doctors.The talker was Sir John Walker. Close-ups sl'iowed hands traversing all motions, cutting, stitching, and knotr ting, the voice explaining each stage of the operation. The' film was produced as an experiment to see whether it was possible to thus teach students the technique of operative surgery. Walker said afterwards that he felt more talking films would greatly supplement the existing teaching in hospitals and unversities.
