Twelve men were entombed in JimiJiinna .Mine in Gippsnrul, as a result oi a iail of earth yesterday afternoon. I bey were released at midnight after desperate work by rescue parlies.

Air was pumped into the mine and the men stated that bad it not been for this they would have been .suffocr.i ed. The iinprijs mod men were heard trying to dig their way to safety with picks and shovels.

When liberated, some were in an extremely weak condition. On June 3rd. three Italians were overcome bv foul gas in this mine and died.
