ROTORUA CYCLONE
SERIOUS DESTRUCTION. [By Telegraph, Per Press Association. ROTORUA, June 27. A severe cyclonic storm swept the district to-day, and it was followed by the main power lines current being cut off at Rotorua for nearly two hours. At Turakina big trees were blown down. Damage was done to houses and electric power poles a tic telegraph poles. At Ngongotaha the National Timber Coy’s mill was unroofed. Trees were ripped down, and much general damage was done. There were many narrow escapes from (lying timber and iron. The cyclmr crossed the lake between Mokoia Island and II an m ran a, raising a tremendous sea. Severe thunderstorms have been felt at intervals all day. with heavy rain at Rotorua.
