A DAILY MESSAGE

DON’T BE A JIBBER! S’omk women, as well as somo men, and some horses, are “ jibbers,” at times. Every wife knows, that, so do some husbands and most employers. A jibbing man or woman is an awkward sort of person anywhere, because one never knows when such persons will make up their mind to “jib.” The jibber has many nasty little ways, and whether he’s a man or a horse, he nearly always jibs at the wrong moment.

Just when you’re wanting every ounce of your pulling strength, he sits down on the job. When the grade is stiffest, lie slackens the trace, and, instead of going forwards, he goes backwards.

If your .horse is a jibber, you soon learn that it does not pay to whip, drag, pull* or bully him. Ilf you do, ho jibs more stubbornly than ever. You soon learn to divert his attention, change his thoughts, give him a new idea, and, as soon as he gets it. olf he goes. You’ve changed his mind. 'l'lie urge to jib is due to a mental kink in man, woman, or horse.

A human jibber is just the same as any other kind of jibber—he fails you at the essential moment. Such persons don’t enjoy jibbing, but they jib; and it’s no use hitting, dragging, pushing, or bullying them either, for the jib is in the mind, and it must be got out of the mind, and supplanted by a new idea and a better idea, as surely as in the case of the jibbing 'horse. A jibber is a drag—in the home, in business, in the club, on the sporting field. So, if you know a “jibber,” help him to iron out that kink, and to get the big idea—that the “ jibber ” is never a. winner. Don’t be a “jibber” ! —M. PRESTON STANLEY.
