CARS COLLIDE
TWO INJURED IN VIOLENT . COLLISION.
AUCKLAND, June 24. Two motor-cars collided with such •force at a street intersection in Grey ..ynn this afternoon that they were thrown in the air. The driver of one car, Frederick Calpin, aged 20, received a fracture of the skull. His condition is very serious. His companion, Arthur W. Herring, aged 19. was also injured. Doth cars approached the intersection on downward grades and the collision was so violent that it was heard some distance away. One of the cars, a sedan, was driven by H. It. Page, who was accompanied by Miss Corson. He had a fortunate escape. The occupants of the other car were peppered with flying fragments of glass. The intersection was littered with splintered glass from both cars and the cars were battered severely. 'l’he open car from which the two injured men were removed was bespattered with blond.
It is believed that the drivers ir volved in the accident were both watch ing a third car and did not notice eac other.
