DAYLIGHT SAVING

PARLIAMENT NOT LIKELY TO INTERFERE. WELLINGTON, June 19. The opinion that Parliament would not interfere wifli daylight saving in New Zealand for some time was expressed by the Minister of Labour (the Hon. W .A. Veitcli) in the course of his address at the opening to-day of tin' conference of the Bank Officers’ Guild. The subject had been raised by tlm president (Mr li. A. Dixon), who, in jocular vein, said he wished to give the Minister a word of advice. “At our last smoke concert,” the speaker added, “we said to the then Minister of Labour (the Hon. R. A. Wright), ' If you don’t give us daylight saving, look out.’ You all know what has happened.” -Mr Dixon added amidst laughter. The .Minister said that as far as daylight saving was concerned, he thought it had worked out very well, and he did not think Parliament would be changing it for some time to come. (Applause).
