OBITUARY.

ALFRED M. 11. KELLER. It is with extreme regret that we record the death of a well-known and Highly respected resident in the person of Mr Alfred M. H. Keller, the wellknown tailor of Revell Street. The deceased was the eldest son of the late Mr William Keller, who established that well-known hostelry Keller’s Hotel, in the late ’sixties. He was a native of Hokitika, and 61 years of age. He learned his trade with the late Mr B. Dyson, of Revel] Street, and later went to Australia where he carried on his trade lor several years, later re- t turning to Hokitika where he opened up the well-known tailoring business of Keller Rros., which has been carried on ever since. The deceased took a prominent part in municipal affairs •ml wns a member of the Hokitika Borough Council for many years and was chairman of Public Works for several periods. He also took a great interest in horticultural and poultry matters and was one of the secretaries of the Hokitika Horticultural and 'hviltrv , Society for a long period. Later he has been secretary of the Chrysanthemum Show held yearly in connection with All Saints’ Church. The deceased was a church warden of All Saints’ Church for a long period of years and put a large amount of loving labour into his work in this connection. For the past fifteen years he had been suffering from a chest affliction and has been in very indifferent health. Of late he has been failing considerably though the end came quietly ond unexpectedly at the Inst, this morning. Deceased lost his wife some two and a-half years ago very suddenly and the loss was a heavy one to him. He loaves a family of two sons (Jack, in the Bank of New Zealand at Whaka-i-nne. and Alfred, at college at Christ(.lyrnb) and three daughters (Louise, Hazel, and Joan) all residing at home. Mr G. W. Keller, of Keller’s Hotel, is a brother and Mrs Kohlmeyer, of Melbourne, is a sister. There will he very general regret at the passing of a good citizen and the sympathy of the community will he extended to the .members of the family in their bereavement.
