AUCKLAND NURSES
_«■> HOSPITAL INQUIRY. (By Telegraph—Prosn AssixMiition). AUCKLAND, June 18. As the result of complaints concerning the overworking of nurses at Auckland Hospital, the Board to-day decided to hold a special meeting to investigate the conditions among the nurses, and to ask the ‘Matron and Medical Superintendent to .submit reports oil the staff arrangements. It was stated there were 2-14 nurses at the hospital, and instructions had been issued for another 35 to he employed. There had been an average of 34 away lirough sickness. On May I.oth there were 698 patients whereas the normal accommodation was for 557. llev. S. Wood, on whoso suggestion it was decided to hold the inquiry said that complaints about the neglect of the patients seemed to apply chiofIv to the Wallace Ward.
