LABOUR IN OFFICE. DRAFTING THE KING’S SPEECH (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, June 16. The now Parliament meets for the first time on Tuesday ol next week, when the Prime Aim aster returns from Lossiemouth. He is expected to bring with him a draft of tlie King’s Speech tor the consideration of Cabinet. This will be Labour’s first experience of the responsibility of drafting the King's Speech at the opening of a Parlimentary session, for in 192-1, when the Labour Party went into office for a short term, the formalities of opening the session had already been completed by the outgoing Conservative Government. KNIGHTHOODS' CONFERRED. RUGBY, June 16. The King having approved that knighthoods lie conferred on AVilliam Jowitt, on bis appointment as Attor-ney-General, and on J. B. Afelville on nis appointment as Solicitor-General, the Prince of Wales yesterday, on liehalf of bis Majesty, conferred the accolade on them. ADR KENNEDY’S APPOINTMENT.RUGBY, June P-. Air Thomas Kennedy has been a - pointed Parliamentary Secretary to.the Treasury. Since 1927 Mr Kennedy lias lieen Chief Whip of the Labour Party.
