Alter raiding a suspected Chinese opium den in Elsternwcik, Constables .Suker and Clugston were chased by several Chinese armed with axes and choppers. So threatening was their attitude that the police were forced to give ground and take to their heels, xiie chase led over fences and thtough backyards. Both constables managed to escape. ( When reinforcements arrived the house had been vacated.
