'I lie f.aliour Party has shaken itself free from the Communists, and, white it contains an extreme element, represented by members of the stamp of Mr .Maxton, its abandonment oi Socialism has recently been prophesied by close observers of its tendencies. If this prediction should prove accurate, members of the left wing ol the Liberal Party may readily be able so to adjust their views as to admit of their acceptance of the Labour programme. —Otago Daily Times.
