Under the will of the late Sophia Bates, a resident of Dannevirke for , many years, Dannevirke hospital j benefits by a legacy of an estimated value of £IOOO, which it is proposed to devote towards the cost of erecting a maternity home. PUBLIC ACCOUNTS. WEJaLINGTON, June 13. Public accounts for the- year have been gazetted, but the usual summary has not been furnished by the treasury as it explains the ground already has been covered by the Prime -Minister in his public address. Jt may, however, lie stated that the ordinary revenue for the year is shown as £>2,86-!,722. Amongst o.her receipts were: Territorial £108,802, departmental receipts by Justice,,Printing and other Departments £525,063, credits in reduction £1,183,010. The expenditure includes .interest £11,339,508, under special acts £0,273..95, annual appropriations £9,09-1,218. Ihe Public Worms Account shows a balance in hand of £3.889.033. INQUEST VERDICT. NAPIER, June 13. At the inquest on Francis O’Donnell, drowned while inspecting flood damage i t Idea nee on .May 19th. last, a verlict of accidental death was returned. The O .Toner congratulated Messrs Burgess and Muir, especially .e latter, on their efforts to rescue 'lie deceased. NEW WIRELESS STATION OPENED WELLINGTON, June 13. Advice has been received by Hon. Ngatu, -Minister for,Cook Islands, that the newlv-erected wireless station at the small isolated island of Maulce, was opened lor traffic on 10th June.
