THE MOTH ’PLANE,
AERO CLUB PICNICS IN BRITAIN

“There is no doubt whatever that, the Moth ’plane i.s the coming tiling for private individual fivers. Ho.m they will he as common as motor-cars, and will be used just as freely. Jn England members of the various Aero Clubs are now holding picnics. They arrange t@ meet at certain spots, have their picnic, and then fly bade to their homes.”
These remarks were made by FlightLieutenant Rodney, of the Royal Air Force, who was a passenger by the llimaroa from Sydney this morning. L t e is touring the world. While in Australia, Flight-Lieuten-ant. Rodney w-.lit all over the Air Force oases, and lie states to-day that the Australian Air Force is now reaching o very high standard of efficiency. It was moving along the right lines. At first tlie Government did not seem inlined to spend much money on that parti ulnr arm of defence, but now it vu.s different.
Acco u ng to Flight-Lieutenant Rodney. Moth Clubs are springing up all over tlie place, and every country he has visited so far showed a marked :ir sense. He will be in New Zealand till July 2. and during liis stay will inspect tlie aerodrome at Christchurch •m l confer with tlie officers of Ibe Air force. He hopes to fly from Wei melon to tlie Soutli Island. He will leave Wellington by the Makura for Vancouver. In Canada, he will insped the Canadian Government’s forces at Ottawa.
