IVERYBODYS PICTURES. “RIDERS OF THE DARK” —FRIDAY. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer pictures starring Tim McCoy stand out among the screen’s outdoor romances, not only for their swiftly moving adventurous action and the, historical incidents upon which they are based, but for the splendid casts which are assembled to assit the star. These players guarantee good acting, arid‘so lift a production on to a high plane of entertainment. In “Riders off the Dark,” McCoy's next starring picture to be shown at the Princess Theatre on Friday, a noteworthy assemblage of players again assures a thrilling, well-por-trayed ■ ' story. Dorothy ' Dwan, a charming young player whose talerit is well known ,to lovers of this type of picture, appears opposite McCoy, ilert Roach is rapidly becoming one of the screenV most vpopular comedians, and he appears in ■>“ Riders of the Dark ” as the sheriff—at least, he is the sheriff when a notorious gang off law-breakers lire out of town. Roy D’Arcy has the role of Eagari, “ the leader of the . aforesaid gang, apd* he carries ?off this “ menace ” with characteristic perfection. Frank Currier, grand old man off the screen, Rex Lease, Who played' the bandit brother of McCoy .in “The Law of the Range,” but who is seen this time as an ally, brother of the girl with whom McCoy is in love—and Dick Sutherland, the biggest and ugliest man in pictures, completes this formidable array ctf i. talent. Nick Grinde directed “Riders of the Dark,” and residents of Hokitika will be mighty pleased with the entertainment as a whole.
