POWER BOARDS
REDUCTION OF TRADING. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, June 7. The competition of power supply authorities with private enterprise in the sale of electrical appliances was the subject., of a deputation to the Public Works Minister (Mr Ransom), representing the Electrical Federation comprising those engaged in the trade. The Minister agreed with the deputation that it was fair that the competition between Powers Boards and private enterprise should be confined to reasonable limits. He would what could be done in regard to depriving Boards of their right to trade. That was a policy matter, and the deputation’s representations would be noted should a Bill be brought down later. He agreed that all the Power Boards slioud bo required to keep books showing clearly their financial position, and audited and open to public inspection. He was not in favour of anything that lent itself to unfair competition, or that did not disclose quite clearly to the public what was being done.
