SACKING OF STOKER LEADS / ; TO TROUBLE. (By Telegraph—Press Association). AUCKLAND, June 7. Trouble with the. crew of the Union Company’s steamer, Kartigi, at Auckland to-day, resulted in the men being given 24 hours’ notice. The men will be paid off. Afterwards the vessel will he laid up indefinitely. The trouble arose over a stoker. He was dismissed by the Chief Engineer. The other members of the crew objected to the man being discharged, and they refused to go to sea in the vessel unless lie was reinstated. The men’s request was refused. As the trouble could not be settled satisfactorily, the Company decided that the Kartigi should be laid up.
