LATE LOCALS.

The death took place this morning of an old and highly esteemed resident of the town, Mrs Jane Davy Smith, widow of the late Mr Harry Smith, a former well-known linesman, passing away at her residence, Stafford St. Deceased was a member of the Blytli family, formerly well-known residents of Arahura, and was 73 years of ago. She had resided in Hokitika for many years. Her husband died some ten years ago. Deceased leaves a family of three daughters (Mrs A. S. Dunlonl of Greymouth, and Mrs Alexander and Mrs "Eisfelder, of Wellington). Mrs L. S.‘Ross, of Hokitika is a grand-daughter. Very general regret will be felt in the community at the passing of one, who in her earlier years took a prominent part in the work of the Women’s Benevolent Society and other institutions.
