THIEVES AT WORK
SHOWCASES R ANSACKED,
GREY.UOUTH, June 3
With the barber ” acting as a smoke screen, one or more thieve t went into action at the Greyniout'i Railway Station during last night, -wit : the result that two business linns are losers to the extent of about £SO. For a considerable time. Messrs 11. Tate and Malison and Co. have adopted as a mode of advertising their goods two showcases, measuring about ifour feet by three Ifeet, fixed oil the station wall, facing the platform. That cJf Mr Tate contained ladies’ and men’s shoes, e‘ t ; mated to be worth approximately £3O, while that of Malison and Co. contained mercery and other goods., valued at about £2O.
It was discovered this morning 1 that a clean sweep had been made ?>f the goods, the only things Idft being the fittings and the advertising cards in the, glass not been broken, and the thief or thieves had evidently, found little difficulty in forcing the locks on the cases. Investigations are being made by Detective H. C. Murcli.
