KIWI V. UNITED
This game on Cass Square resulted in a win ifor Kiwi by 22 points (6 tries, two converted) to (5 points (a try and a penalty goal). In the first hall Kiwi scored two tries and United one, and the score was 8 to 3 in favour of Kiwis, who had a little the better of the play. In the <; sccond spell, Unite! started throwing the hall about, but the passing was wild and not a great deal of ground was gained. The Kiwi •forwards got going and the play open ed out, four tries coming. Stopforth making three dashing runs during the game that ended in tries, while Schist w’ho was playing steadily throughout, .socred a neat try, and Pawson secured a somewhat lucky one. Bunt kicked a goal for United. The play in the second half was much faster, but the players did not handle the dry ball as they should have done, while the tackling on both sides was very.medium. The first haP was an extremely poor exhibition hut the second half though faster gave the •advantage to,Kiwis, mainly apparently to their opponents condition giving way. Altogether it was only a moderate exhibition for seniors. For Kiwis tries were scored by Stopforth (3), H. Fleming, Schist, and Dawson. Two tries were converted, one by Pfahleit and one by Webster. For United, Jamieson scored a try and Hunt kicked a. penalty goal. Mr Cutbush uas referee.
SCHOOL V. RIMU
The School had a runaway victory over Himn, their hacks outplaying their opponents, and time and again the scorer went over unopposed.
EXCELSTOR 15: V. BRUNNER 6
Hie Brunner v. Excelsior game proved to the good crowd of spectators on the Brunner ground to he an even, interesting clash, Brunner being quite as much in the play as their opposing side. The home team, however, suffered bad back play, indifferent handling nullifying the effect of any good scoring chances. Among those prominent were Chamberlain, in' the Brunner backs, and' Bell, Mclntosh, and Hatton' in the pack. Davidson, the Excelsior half, played another fine game, while Houston and Nightingale were also outstanding. Mr T. Mclntosh refereed. The Blaketown Magpies games resulted in a win for Blaketown 15 to 6, after a poor exhibition.
SEVEN ASIDE.
WESTLAND SUB-UNION TOURNEY
The weather was perfect yesterday for the annual seven aside tournament held by the Westland Rugby Union on Cass Square. There was a large attendance and the play was closely followed all through the morning and afternoon. The various officials of the Union were in attendance arid the arrangements being very complete, there was hardly a dull moment. There was a hard-working lot of referees and with the players keen, there was much to interest. The final game was finished just on five o’clock after, the final of the junior championship, extra time having to he played as both teams (Kiwi and Ross) had three points in. The Kiwi team managed to score a further try and secured the victory. The senior games were robbed of much of their interest by the one-sidednoss of the play. The third grade final proved of interest. It looked at one time as if Rimu were going to win with a five-point lead but just at the end of the first spell Walker potted a goal and in the second half School added two tries. The bantams and shrimps supplied some very interesting games and the young Iry were vciy popular with the onlookers. At the conclusion of the play the President (Mr H. M. Coulson) present ed the trophies won to be held for the year—The Coulson Cup to the winners of the Bantams (Convent A), the Kortegast Jusfrute Cup to the winners of the Shrimps (School A), the Fowler Cup to the winners of the Juniors (Kiwi A) and the Preston Cup, a very handsome now cup, to the winners of the Seniors (Excelsiors A). Referees for the day included Rev. Father McKay, Messrs Best, Cutbush, Heonan, Kearns, 1 Nightingale, and Coulson.

ALL BLACK TRIAL
(By Telegraph—Press Association)
WELLINGTON, June 3
This afternoon fifteen thousand spectators witnessed the match at Athletic Park in which the available. Rugby strength of the Dominion contended for places in the New Zealand team which is to tour Australia. Though anything like combination could not be looked for in the conglomeration of players ‘ drawn j from ail parts of the Dominion, not a little individual brilliance was in eviaeneo and mat.er.iui was on hand to 1 snake donn -into quite a respectable piaying force 1 hiti-V the'’te'iiih' lias Had a tew games.
A noticeable weakness was the Scrummaging. Many times the scrum* after going down, buckled, and . the players went sprawling on the tun. it was freely admitted that radical jteps will have to be taken to put things right in this department oi New Zealaud Rugby before the British team arrives next season.
There was considerable scoring and the game ended 'Possibles 24 } Probables 22.

The test match, Australian Univer sities against New Zealand Universities, was played at Lancaster Park to-day in perfect weather on a fast ground. New Zealand won by 15 points (five mu (inverted tries) to 55 points (an unconverted try). The game was’less one-sided than the earlier Iform of the Australians would have suggested, but New Zealand should have won by a much larger margin, mam- scoring chances being rejected or thrown away. The game was bright, but by no means faultless..
