Tlie Prime. Minister says ln> was greatly impressed with the rouli through which the South Island Main Trunk Railway is to lie constructed. From u scenic point of view, it affords as attractive a piece of country as lie had seen in any part of New Zcniand | and from the point where tlrlino going southward from Picton -terminates, the route goes through fine, settled country. The land there in occupation has been well workcJ, and the evidences of successful occupation are to lie seen in the excellent homes of the settlers. The Prime Min istcr looks •forward to the; time that the. link is joined up, when there will also he tho .successful occupation of territory which is still available but which awaits the means of transport to enejble the land to bo cut up into suitable areas for closer settlement. Tiie Prime Minister leaves on Sunday night by the Limited express for Auckland. Tie attends the Ellersiie races on Monday. On Tuesday he will be given at Auckland a civic reception.
