At the request of the German Consul at AVellington it has been decided that a civic reception will not be tendered to the officers and men of the cruiser Emden when the vessel arrives at Auckland on .Tune 20tli. A telegram from tlie Consul suggesting that in view of the controversy in Auckland, it would he advisable to cancel any arrangements for a reception, was received by tlie Mayor yesterday. Mr Baildon stated last evening that lie had decided to accede to the request and namely pay the usual courtesy call on tlie Commander, when the vessel arrives.
