EVIDENCE ABOUT DAUBING CABS. OPOTIKI, May 28. Further evidence in regard to tin death of Samuel McAleese was given by Morewai To ..Makarini, a roadman, employed with Lappin and deceased. Makarini corroborated Liappin’s evidence. He stated that he remained with the body whist Lappin rang up the poiee. In the meantime, lie .said, a man and woman came along in a -nr. The woman gof out to view the body, but lie would not let her touch it. Ho did lint know why the deceased had carried the rifle. He had been doing shovelling before the accident. Arthur Corney, another roadman, with George Gosling, working on a section of the road near Opotiki, said lie saw .two strangers pass in a red ear about 11.-10 a.m.. going towards ATotu. No other red ear passed that day. John BpJid. another roadman, corroborated/the previous wi l ness in Id’s statement in regard to the* red ear. Noj-my Levy, music importer, ol Wellington, deposed that lie passed the body lying 011 the road. Lappin was in charge, lie asked if lie could give any assistance.. The time was about 4.10 p.lll.
