Tiie Son ill American Steam Navigation Company has received news that the steamer HaJosius lias picked up a report from Tristan Da Cunlia, stating that a four or live-masted vessel was sighted, evidently in distress, west of the Island. Only a small jib was set. It was feared that she would strike a reef, but as no wreckage was found, it was believed that the vessel had denied the Island. Owing to the rough seas, the Islanders were unable to launch a boat to identify the vessel. It is suggested that this may be tiie first lighten the disappearance of the Punish training ship •‘KoebcnTiavn, cabled on Afay 23rd.
