SYDNEY VARSITY LADS. (Australian Press Association). SYDNEY, May 27. As a sequel to the Sydney University undergraduates’ misconduct last Tuesday. at the City Police Court to-day, Thomas Temperley, aged 19, was lined £2 for riotous behaviour. A similar case was brought against Vergil Loschiavo, an Dalian. Tt was adjourned to enable him to produce evidence in his defence. The Magistrate acquitted Temperley of the desecration of the cenotaph. SERIES OK AUDACIOUS THEFTS. SYDNEY, May 28. Following investigations by the local Government Department and police of the financial affairs of the Tenterfield Municipal Council, a series of defalcations "extending over seven years, involving .between £15,000 and £20,000 sterling was revealed. The Aldermen of the- Council recently resigned. The manipulation of bogus accounts which the Coiin'M passed in good faith resulted in the Council being placed in financial difficulties. The audit revealed a series-of audacious thefts.
