FOUND DEAD. By Telegraph—Press Assn., Copyright. WESTPORT, May 26. Patrick O’Kane, labourer, employed on the railway construction works at Tiriroa, was found dead in the hut of a friend, Patrick M’Ehvaiiie at six o’clock this morning. He called there last evening, his hut being four miles further oil, and lay down oil the floor with some coats over him. He was dead at 6 a.m. Deceased had previously* complained of pain in the pit oi his stomach. He was a native of Ireland and had been in the Dominion only three years. QUEEN’S BIRTHDAY. CONGRATULATIONS FROM N.Z. AUCKLAND, May 25. As tlie outcome of a motor accident near Mnstcrton on Saturday, AVilliam Hutchinson Gordon, farmer, 42, appeared before the court this morning charged with being intoxicated while in charge of a motor. He was lined £75 and his license was suspended for twelve months, the Magistrate stating that the question exercising his mind was whether accused should l:e sent to gaol right out. FARMER KILLED I BY FALL FROM HORSE. DUNEDIN, May 27. William Boyd, 70, farmer, of AVaiwora South, was admitted to the South Otafjjo Hospital this afternoon suffering jfrom a fractured skull and injuries to the spine caused by a fall from a hor.se. He died at 9 p.m. EXHIBITION AT MASTERTON. MASTERTON, May 27. Tho opening of the Wairnrapa Industrial and Art Exhibition to-night was most .successful, there being a large attendance of the public and of reprein ta lives of local bodies and Members for Districts. The opening ceremony was performed by Air T. Jordan, Mayi,r of Mastertou, in the absence of Hon Air Cobbo, Minister of Industries and Commerce. Alter short speeches, a concert programme wins given the proceedings being broadcast from Wellington, a line being c nne.ted between the Exhibition Hall and the Broadcast Station. The- main streets of the town were brightly decorated with coloured lights. The exhibition promises to be a* great success. FARMERS’ TRADING COY. AUCKLAND. May 27.
