The University authorities express deep regret at the unseemly conduct of a small proportion of the Undergrads. two of whom are to be prosecuted by tbe police. The Vice-Chancellor declares that the behaviour has broken his heart, as the Undergrads had previously given an assurance that there would be no misconduct. " PROCESSION CANCELLED. ! SYDNEY, May 22. The University students’ procession through tin' city, which was scheduled for to-morrow, has been cancelled as tbe result of last night's riotous behaviour. THE CENOTAPH INCIDENT. . . R..S.A. OFFICERS THREAT. SYDNEY,. May 22. Returned .soldier officials , are incensed at the' Varsity students’ dose-, (•ration of the .cenotaph, .and they threaten that if a students’ procession', were attempted, they would break it up. Tbev also d< maud that tbe L.ni--Ivorsitv authorities .shall, ascertain the names of those, who were offenders at the cenotaph, and ..summarily expel f belli. . The Soldiers’ Mothers,. Wives and Widows’ Association intends.to press the issue and take out summonses against tin* offenders. The Soldiers’ League will probably request police protection for the Cenotaph, both day and night, owing to there being continuous misdeeds there. THE CENOTAPH INCIDENT. Weaving , academic gowns, twentysfx representatives of the Undergraduates Association liled solemnly past t he" Cenotaph ••and placed on it a large wreath with a card hearing the words “ From the undergraduates of Sydney University, as an apology .'for tho ins.ult to- our glorious dead.” In addition to the procession being banned.‘the smoke concert, festival and bail have also been cancelled and lectures will ret on ’ i ’’ice forthwith.
