A MAN KILLED. By Telegraph—Press Assn., Copyright. ; WHANGAftEI, May 23. . William Graf, aged 38, engaged in a Public Works quarry at Tauroroa yesterday afternoon when struck on the head by a largo stone, sustained a compound depressed fracture in the vault of' the skull and base of the skull. An operation at the hospital was of no avail and lie died early this morning. A wife and four children are left. MOTOR PLUNGES OVER BANK. TAIHAPE, May .23. A motor car, driven by Joseph Wright, a farmer, accompanied by his wife and two daughters, ran over a bank two hundred feet deep, into the .tyangitikei River on Tuesday at Mangaweka. It plunged about 100 feet then 50 feet and landed in .stunted bush. Mrs Wright sustained a severe gash in the head and is noiv in the hospital. Wright received a deep cut over the right eye. The others escaped with a severe shaking and bruises. The cause of the accident was a defective steering gear.
