I.OYAi/fY TO LEADER. ACT!VE ORG ANISATTON. AUCKLAND, .May 21. A large gathering of Reform Party supi'i i tors was held on Monday evening to meet the Right Hon. Mr Coates, leader of the Opposition. The proceeding.-, were marked by enthusiasm' giving evidence or the loyalty of those present toward the Party and its leader. The chairman, Mr James Robertson, said tiie meeting was called following requests of supporters, who felt that the time had arrived to discuss tAie present political situation and to enable all past adherents, together with many now supporters, to discuss the most desirable methods of furthering the interests of Reform. He called on their leader, Mr Coates, to give a brief outline of the political situation of the day. Mr Coates, who was greeted with great applause, gave an interpretation of the Party aims, and emphasised that so far as Reform was concerned Party advantage would never be placed before the interests of the Dominion. That the future of Reform was bright was evidenced by the steadfast adherence of the older members- of the Party, and particularly by offers of active assistance in all phases of the Party’s work from younger people throughout the Dominion. • In all part's dievknew. there wefjs ready to co-operate yoting men and women who had no other motive than the advancing of the •true. interests of the country. These -young' people had told him that they had considered the utterances of. the United P;u-ty'and the appeal of earnest Labour men/' but they felt that the Mins and objects of the Reform policy •rovided for the soundest economic development. The Party was glad to welcome these active workers, and it was certain younger brains would add new strength to the movement and give it an impetus which could not be resisted. Mr Coates informed the meeting of the activities of the Reform organisation in other parts of the Dominion. He expressed his appreciation of the work of large numbers of old supporters, who' had been active during the campaigns, and who now; wished to ally themselves in future activities.Resolutions were carried unanimously reaffirming allegiance to the Reform Party and- its policy, placing on record the high appreciation, of the services rendered to the Reform cause by Mr Coates and. full confidence in him as head of the organisation, and pledging co-operation with any movement or organisation necessary to advance the cause of the Party. Many new workers were enrolled at the .conclusion of the meeting, and plans were made for active oragnisation throughout the City and province'.
