At the Air .Inquiry, Pilot Brain gave further evidence that he did not think an aerap’anc of the type of the Kookaburra. should attempt a long distance flight over waicriess country. It had a very small engine and was currying a heavy bad which would tax the engine’s capacity to the utmost. Anderson and Hitchcock knew they had a faulty compass and tlieir safe policy would have been to fly to Newcastle Waters and then to Wave Hill.
