JUNE MOBBED BY WOMEN
SURGING THRONG AT CHURCH
LONDON, March 22
June, the musical comedy actress, had never been more thoroughly idolised by “the gallery” than she was hy the crowd that greeted her as I.adv Inverclyde outside St. Columha s (Church of Scotland), Pont Street, S.W., yesterday. The fact that the time of her marriage to Lord Inverclyde had been kept secret resulted in the gathering of the crowd, almost entirely of women and gii-is. some hours Indore her arrival. Standing on Ihe steps el the church with the bridegroom, June made a prettier picture than she has ever made on the stage. DELICATE CHARM.
In her dress of peach crepe satin, her head closely crowned with a Juliet cap of pearls, she had a delicate charm which worked like magic on the women-
who gazed at her from the pavement. When she began to descend the steps to reach the bridal-car the crowd surged toward her, and only hy exerting all their strength could the police make the way clear for her. Then excitement broke out afresh among the thronging of women, and breaking*the barrier of the policemen s arms they surrounded the car. “June! June!” they cried, and June smiled on them through the closed windows of the car, on which confetti fell in many coloured showers. Still refusing to allow the car to move, they clung to the hack of "it and clambered on to the running-boards. When at last the police managed to push hack those who crowded in' front, screams mingled with the cheers, for some wore danger of being crushed. Presently the car moved forward, lint- the crowd rushed alter it and caught it up again when for a moment its way was blocked by other vehicles. Again they surrounded it, and not until they bad repeated thpir cheers and had thrown over it their last fragment of confetti did they permit ;t tr. hasten away.
BLIND BROTHER’S VOLUNTARY. Fewer than 50 people were present at the marriage ceremony. 'Among them were Tail'd mother, Charlotte T.atTf Inverclyde ; the bride's mother, Mrs Howard Tripp- 'amV h..r blind brother, Mr Edgar Howard, Tripp, who composed"'the voluntary plhyiM before the ceremony.
June’s other* brother, Air Sutliel' a id Howard Trip'p, gave 'her away; arid the best man was Mr C. G. Leslie‘HoiVar.i.
June had "two small briidesmails, Catriona and* Aririe McLean, nieces of Lord Inverclyde: 1 They wore !i rkymh satin Venetiafi-style dresses, 'designed by June.
