A REVOLTING CRIME
GRUESOME FIJI TRAGEDY.
SUVA, May 6
At the last session of the Criminal Court the final act of a gruesome drama was begun by the sentencing of three Indian men and one Indian woman to bo hanged. The crime was a very revolting one, and the woman appeared as the chief criminal. It appears that she had tired of her husband, and arranged with , her new paramour that lie should be eliminated. The husband, all unsuspecting, came home one evening and had his meal duly prepared by big wife. Later three Indian men arrived and were veromed and offered refreshment. Suddenly, at a, signal from the woman, her husband was seized and slowly choked to death. His body was then' strung up to a beam, as if it were a case of suicide. The woman rushed‘to the neighbours, and finally the coronet found a. verdict of suicide. But all the time that the tragedy was being enacted the little six-voiir-old dauglilter had been an eye-witness. After the affair she talked, and finally Inspector Luchinelli went to Butna Bay and made inquiries. The result was that largely on the evidence of her little daughter, the crime was sheeted home/
