West’ Coast hockey ladies’ champion ship matches were played yesterday.
‘ Park'ii Stars defeated Brunner by two goals $0 nil.
At 1-Blackball, ' Mawhera defeated Blackball by 5 goals, to nil.
A good game of hockey was witnessed on the Recreation Ground at Greymouth between Hokitika Ladies and United A. Uniteds immediately attacked and scored a two minutes of the start of the game. Hokitika immediately retaliated arid after stime good passing rushes Miss J Hall secured a good goal from a bad angle. Play was now up and down field, each team putting in goods efforts but Hokitika forwards were passing well and J. Hall netted her second goal. After half-time,. Hokitika had” the h better of the game; eh : clx well. Hokitika' scored 1 another goal ffdm a good centre -by 4 Sumner.. E. Butson,.scoring' tvith h ' good shot. Time ended with the scores, Hokitika 3, Uniteds 1. Messrs I. Ryan and J. Rutland were very efficient referees.
