AUCKLAND, May 15. Albert TTong Duk was sentenced at the Supreme Court to one year’s imprisonment if or theft and false protends, having'obtained £92 from a young Chinese, which was represented as required to secure the extension of a temporary residence permit. Bertram Augustine O’Connor (35) got four years’ hard labour, for indecent assault and exposure. Monald Alfred Monton, ship’s steward. got twelve mouths for theft. Peter Dowic, two years for indecent assault on his stepdaughter. THEFT CHARGE. GISBORNE, May 15. A sentence of three months gaol was imposed hv Mr Harper, 5.M.., on William Jarvic. for the theft of n eiderdown. On a charge of forging a cheque at Gisborne, he was committed for sentence, and on a charge of forging and uttering a cheque for CIO I.os (id at Napier, as remanded to appear at Napier on May 23rd.
